Lachelle Lazarus, AuD

Biography

Lachelle Lazarus, AuD, is an audiologist at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. As a clinical audiologist, she specializes in tinnitus assessment and management, as well as vestibular diagnostics. In addition to her clinical work, she is also a preceptor to doctoral audiology externs and interns.

Dr. Lazarus is originally from Canada and obtained her bachelor of science degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She went on to obtain her doctorate in audiology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her fourth-year clinical externship was completed at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Prior to joining the team of audiologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Dr. Lazarus worked as a clinical audiologist at Yale University specializing in cochlear implants, tinnitus assessment and management, vestibular disorders, and comprehensive diagnostics. There, she also served as the externship and internship coordinator.

Dr. Lazarus is an active member of the American Academy of Audiology, and is the current chair of the Inclusion, Representation, and Equity Committee. As a member of the committee, she assisted with formulating a call-to-action outlining practical steps to be considered to increase the diversity and cultural awareness within the Academy. As chair, she will support the Academy in carrying out the steps outlined in that call-to-action. Additionally, she has been involved with the Academy Board of Directors Nominations Committee.

Outside of direct patient care, Dr. Lazarus has a unique interest in supervising and mentoring students and new graduates and helping them to navigate entry into their careers. With her well-rounded clinical experience, she is continually drawn to the various realms of audiology and looks forward to continuing to develop her specialties while working to provide opportunities for the newer audiologists to excel at their careers.
