Saunja T. Burt, AuD, MBA, received her BA in communicative sciences and disorders from Hampton University, a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Nova Southeastern University, and her AuD from Central Michigan University. She is a clinic support audiologist at Oticon, Inc.

Prior to joining Oticon, Dr. Burt was the supervisory audiologist at the Miami Veterans Administration (VA) Healthcare System for 17 years where she managed the northern outpatient and community-based clinics. Dr. Burt was also a clinical preceptor for third and fourth-year AuD students. Her clinical interest focused on auditory processing and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Burt served on the Academy’s Public Relations Committee and Professional Standards and Practices Committee, and currently is on the Inclusion, Representation, and Equity Steering Committee. She was a participant in the inaugural class of the Jerger Future Leaders of Audiology Conference (JFLAC). Dr. Burt completed the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Competency Development for Leaders Program.  She is a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) in Audiology.

Dr. Burt is a Certified Mentor. She has mentored over 45 students and professionals throughout her career. She often encourages students to pursue an audiology degree by discussing her journey. She recently was a guest on the All About Audiology podcast and co-wrote an article with her mentors, which was published in Audiology Today.

Dr. Burt is actively involved in her community. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. – Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter, where she has served in many capacities including the Audit Committee, Historian, Grade Group Sponsor, and the Five-Star Committee Chair.
