Thank you to all of our member advocates for answering our call and taking legislative action! Since our successful Virtual Hill Day on September 28, H.R.1587—the Medicare Audiologist Access and Services Act of 2021 (H.R. 1587/S. 1731) has gained three additional cosponsors.
We are happy to report that our members have sent 635 letters to 202 different senators and congressmen in support of H.R. 1587/S. 1731 since March through the Academy’s Legislative Action Center.
In addition, on October 7 the Academy sent out an urgent request to members asking them to utilize the Legislative Action Center to contact their Representatives to support a letter to House leadership lead by Representatives Ami Bera, MD (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN). This sign-on letter urges House leadership to cancel impending Medicare reimbursement cuts to audiology and other providers.
For this initiative Academy members sent 63 letters to 58 different congressmen. The sign-on letter was delivered to House leadership and was ultimately signed by 247 Members of Congress.
