Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the many restrictions on face-to-face meetings and interactions, 2021 was an extremely active year in advocacy and 2022 shows no signs of slowing down. On the federal front, 2022 may see more action on a possible Medicare hearing benefit and the Medicare Audiologist Access and Services Act (H.R. 1587/S. 1731), as well as the finalization of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid regulations. On the state front, 2022 promises more activity on the interstate licensure compact (ASLP-IC) and efforts to modernize state audiology practice acts.
