Update on ABA Certificate Programs

  • ABA News

In June, the American Board of Audiology (ABA) Board rescinded the expiration dates for both the CH-AP and CH-TM certificate programs. This means that all existing and newly completed certificates will only note the start date (the date when the last module is successfully completed) and will no longer expire after five years.

This brings both certificate programs in line with the majority of certificate programs that do not expire. Although there is an industry option that allows for expiration dates, most certificates do not expire—now, neither the CH-AP nor CH-TM will expire either.

Until the new module 5 of the CH-AP program is ready and added to the CH-AP package, the four-module package is again available for registration and completion. Once the fifth module has been added, the ABA will announce an effective start date that indicates that all CH-AP certificates after that date have completed all five modules.

All CH-AP certificates with an earlier start date will indicate completion of the original four modules. Those with existing CH-AP certificates who later complete the fifth module as a stand-alone product will also receive an updated start date that reflects that accomplishment.

Because the current certificate does not expire, you may complete the updated CH-AP material on your own schedule—no need to wait for an expiration window in which to complete it.
